6 Reasons why you should see Irreplaceable in Wellington!
By Focus on the Family NZ
On Thursday 10th December, we're holding a special one-night only screening of our brand new documentary movie Irreplaceable in Wellington.
Here’s six reasons why should definitely join us for this special event if you live in Wellington!
1. Irreplaceable deals with some profoundly important issues
So many of the issues that negatively impact our culture have their genesis in either the breakdown of the family, or the loss of an authentic vision of marriage and family life.
Irreplaceable explores issues such as:
- the gender complimentarity of men and woman
- the true nature of marriage
- respect for the sanctity of human life
- fatherlessness
- family breakdown and crime
- disability and eugenics
- post-abortion grief
…and that’s just SOME of the many important topics the documentary delves into.
These important issues aren’t just given lip service either - some of the world’s top thinkers and commentators, as well as individuals and families living through these issues share their experiences in Irreplaceable.
2. Irreplaceable is a truly global movie with an important Kiwi connection
In New Zealand we can often feel like the poor cousins who are always relying on hand-me-downs from other countries when it comes to Christian ministry resources, especially ones of this nature.
But Irreplaceable is very different.
Not only is the documentary hosted by a New Zealander, Tim Sisarich, it also features a lot of his personal family experiences from right here in New Zealand, and then following Tim as he travels all over the world speaking to academics, commentators, individuals and families who share their knowledge and experiences about the importance of marriage and family life.
3. Irreplaceable is intensely personal
This isn’t just a series of interviews, this is a documentary which takes the viewer on an intimate and personal journey as Tim delves into the issues of his own family background, and the impact that they have had on him.
There are moments of sadness and moments of joy, and most importantly of all, we, the viewers, are taken on a profound journey of redemption and hope.
4. Irreplaceable is confronting in its honesty, but never pessimistic
This movie is not afraid to explore the deeper issues confronting marriage and family in the West, but at the same time it doesn’t give in to despair and hopelessness about the current state of marriage and family life.
At the end of this movie I was left with a great sense of wonder at the profound importance of marriage and family life, and a renewed zeal to do more to help heal the wounds that afflict these vital institutions in our culture.
5. Irreplaceable is powerfully redemptive
When the Christian vision of marriage and family is proclaimed, it can be all too easy, even for couples who are doing well, to think that persons they aren’t good or holy enough to be really making the cut.
Sometimes we hear about the greatness of God’s vision for marriage and family, and it can seem so very different from the daily struggles we experience in our own personal and relationship journeys, but Irreplaceable connects all the dots and leavers you with a great sense
It presents a truly redemptive vision of marriage and family life that is grounded in the daily realities of ordinary marriage and family living, while never once compromising the splendour and profound truths about God’s design for marriage and family.
6. The other Kiwis who have seen it already are strongly recommending others go and see it too!
"Convicting, encouraging, inspiring. For anyone who has recognised in themselves, even just a hint that change for the better is needed, Irreplaceable is a great wake-up call. A must see!"
-Greg, Auckland screening
“A wonderfully positive movie for the good of the family that every couple and young person should watch. We will be watching it again.”
-Julie, Auckland screening
“I really loved Irreplaceable and would recommend it to anyone. It was wonderful to see a kiwi take centre stage in such a quality international production.
The documentary doesn't just identify the problems plaguing family life - it explores them in a deep and personal way and invites viewers to face their own skeletons and to open up to the mercy of God.”
-Cameron, Auckland screening
“Thank you so much for screening Irreplaceable. My husband and I both thought it was a fantastic movie and are sharing the copy we purchased with our friends.
I came out of the movie Irreplaceable feeling uplifted and reminded of how beautiful our 'imperfect ' families are. Sometimes raising a family can seem like "hard work" but this movie reminded me of the 'bigger picture' and was a good reminder not to take mine (immediate and extended) for granted.”
-Tricia, Auckland screening
